Step 3 Activate Journaling

Activate Journaling RulesNote: Use journaling rules to set up journaling for distribution groups and selected users. A single journaling rule can also be used to represent multiple databases. Journaling rules can be set up for internal messages, external messages, or all messages. To create a journaling rule based on a distribution group, the group must be created first. For the procedure see Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, Create Distribution Groups.
To activate journaling per database

Click Start > All Programs > Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 > Exchange Management Console.

Click the plus sign to the left of the entry for your Exchange server.

Click the plus sign to the left of Organization Configuration.

Click Mailbox.

In the Database Management tab, right-click your mailbox database and select Properties.

Click the Maintenance tab.

In the Mailbox Database Properties window, select Journal Recipient, then click** Browse.1. Select Journaling Contact and clickOK**.

Click OK. You have successfully activated message journaling.
To activate journaling rules

Click Start > All Programs > Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 > Exchange Management Console.

Click the plus sign to the left of the entry for your Exchange server.

Click the plus sign to the left of Organization Configuration.

Click Hub Transport.

Click the Journal Rules tab.

In the Actions pane, click New Journal Rule.

In the New Journal Rule window, type **
Journaling Rule**in the Rule Name field. Click Browse. -
Select Journaling Contact from the list and clickOK.

Select Journal messages for recipient. Click** Browse**.

Select Journaling Distro from the list and clickOK.

Click New.
-
Click Finish. You have successfully implemented journal rules for selected users in your organization.
