Configuring legal hold notification settings

Last published : Sep 15, 2026
As an eDiscovery Administrator, you can use the Legal Hold Settings page to define:
  • default administrative recipients who receive summary emails or hidden copies of legal hold notices sent to custodians.
  • default notice content and footer text for reminder notices, escalation notices, hold release notices, and status reminder notices.
When a legal hold is created, these defaults prepopulate the notice fields. You can override the defaults to personalize the notice for a specific legal matter.
To configure legal hold notification settings:
  1. On the eDiscovery tab, select Legal Hold Notifications.
The All Legal Holds page appears.
  2. Click Settings.
The Legal Hold Settings page appears.

    • In the Admin Notification Email field, enter one or more email addresses who should receive summary emails when a legal hold notice is created or updated and the Send a copy to admin option is selected while sending the notice.
