Configuring SCIM collectors
System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) is an open standard specification for managing user identity information. It provides a distinct schema for authentication that automates the task of data provisioning.
To archive data from Exchange and Active Directory, Arctera Unified Platform relies on the O365 service, which needs your administrator credentials. If your organization's data security policy requires you to share only minimal data with Arctera Unified Platform, or you want to configure provisioning independently, you can use SCIM.
With SCIM, you use a schema to specify the data that you want to share with Arctera Unified Platform. The Azure Active Directory Provisioning service then transfers this data from your environment to the SCIM endpoint. This approach gives you full control over your data.
Note: At present, SCIM relies on additional supporting provisioning services, such as CloudLink or O365, for functionalities like delegate permission, web folder push, and more. Therefore, you must configure any other supporting provisioning service separately from SCIM to achieve complete user provisioning.
When you provision users, the Email Alias accepts unregistered domains, which initially remain inactive. Upon receiving the SCIM request, Arctera Unified Platform automatically includes these unregistered domains in the group domain. However, emails from these inactive domains cannot be archived. For updates on such unregistered domains, contact Arctera Support.
To configure SCIM, use one of the following methods:
